Public benefits

Golf United will create the conditions through which good relations can flourish. Sport has been proven to be an effective tool for engaging people in positive activity and building relationships. The fact has been recognised “TBUC”. Golf is perceived and portrayed as being for upper class citizens; we will debunk that myth by making the sport

more accessible to young people living in areas of deprivation. The popularity of the sport has soared due to the success of local role models. We will tap into that popularity by engaging disenfranchised young people in the sport of golf in an open and fully inclusive way. Golf will be the tool of engagement; participants will enjoy a range of direct benefits that include holistic health and wellbeing, educational development, good relations and self esteem, at all times we will promote a culture of respect and tolerance for diversity. Golf United are a voluntary organisation, we give our time freely for the benefit of others, and our activities encourage and promote engagement and participation in amateur sport. We will increase participation and develop skills and capacity creating pathways into play competitively in the sport. Golf united will empower volunteers to make a difference; we operate a community development ethos, this project will be a vehicle for positive change in the time ahead. The direct benefits which flow from purpose 2.1 will see users of our service have a more positive attitude and behaviour towards all religions and cultures. Good relations will be improved between participants and their siblings. The nature of our programmes will increase their tolerance and dismiss preconceived perceptions. The direct benefits which flow from purpose 2.2; Golf United will create an easily accessible pathway for inhabitants to become involved in the sport of Golf. Through making use of our service users will increase their physical, mental and social skills which will directly improve their confidence and overall quality of life. The direct benefit flowing from purpose 2.3; users will have an increased tolerance and “open-minded” approach to other community members with different beliefs or social background through taking part in structured sports based programmes. The direct benefit flowing from purpose 2.4 is the improvement of community relations between members of segregated communities. Participants will gain an inner happiness and it will benefit their emotional wellbeing. By taking part in sporting programmes the users’ physical health will be directly benefitted. The benefits of our work will be demonstrated through; • Increased participation levels in sport, specifically golf amongst all age groups. We will be able to measure and track participation levels through our programmes. • The increased skill development regardless of ability for users. • The increased physical and emotional wellbeing of users. • The attitudes of participants towards other religions, ethnicities which will be monitored and evaluated throughout programmes. • Increased education amongst participants through health living programmes and workshop facilitation around nutrition. • Building extensive partnerships with local schools, neighbourhood renewal areas, ethnic minority groups, local schools (controlled and integrated) and colleges, children with learning difficulties, local councils, community groups and charities. • Improved relationships between residents of different communities. • Our thorough evaluation and monitoring process which will show the impacts and statistics involved in our work. This will take the form of discussions, consultations, questionnaires and reports. We will do an introductory session will all participants and monitor their progress throughout events and programmes. There is no harm flowing from the purposes. The charity’s beneficiaries are the general public. There is no private benefit which we can readily identify.
