Public benefits

The direct benefits flowing from the purposes include the provision of a community facility to provide a range of social and educational activities which in turn improve the beneficiaries’ standard of education, health, fitness and well being; childcare provision for working parents means that parents are able to work outside home and increase

their income and which allows for increased social interaction for the children and educational gains through one to one help with homework etc. Further benefits include reduced isolation in the older population, positive relationships among people from different religious backgrounds, an improved standard of education and assistance for people to gain skills and qualifications which improves employment prospects, reduces poverty and improves their standard of living; the creation of community & garden facility reduces dereliction (in a vacant school), improves the local environment and helps locals to gain experience and appreciation of their local environment. These benefits will be evidenced by the number of activities and events, numbers attending, feedback forms and social media/verbal feedback. We do not anticipate any harm leading from the purposes of our charity. The charity’s beneficiaries are people in the Scraghey and their environs including Castlederg, Donegal , Drumquin and Fermanagh area. The Association receives grant awards from Wind Farm Companies (in addition to grants from a range of other sources) but there are no formal/contractual agreements in place between the Association and any private individual in connections with this. As a result, no such persons receive a private benefit.

Charitable purposes

The Association is established to advance community development for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Scraghey area and its environs ("the area of benefit") in any exclusively charitable way under the law of Northern Ireland, but in particular by: ? Aiding in the social, economic and environmental development of the area, and; ? Providing facilities in the interests of social welfare, for recreation or other leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants without distinction of age, sex, race, political, religious or other opinion.
