Public benefits
Purpose 1 the direct benefit includes opportunities to develop new skills and provide second chance learning whilst reducing social isolation and mental health issues. These benefits are demonstrated through a local community audit which was carried out in Garvagh and surrounding district to ascertain the needs of courses and activities in the
area. The results determine the action plan which is reviewed on an annual basis. Purpose 2 the direct benefit includes increased health and the reduction of social isolation. This is demonstrated by feedback from the beneficiaries and evaluation of activities provided and a review on the impact of the health and well being of the beneficiaries. Purpose 3 the direct benefit is an increased opportunity to improve cross community relations within the wider community in Garvagh. These benefits are demonstrated by Garvagh Ward statistics (NISRA) and an increased inclusion of all of the community participating in our activities and events. The direct benefit of purpose 4 is raised awareness of environmental issues affecting the community. This is demonstrated by an Annual Village Inspection linking with the relevant statutory agencies. There is no harm flowing from our purposes. The charity beneficiaries are women and their families and the community living in Garvagh and the surrounding area. A private benefit may arise from our programme of ongoing training, finance and good governance, child protection and first aid etc, through this training trustees gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.
What your organisation does
Garvagh Womens Network’s purpose is to work with women their families and the communities in Garvagh and the surrounding areas. Our group want to provide opportunities to learn, increase knowledge and to be proud of our community. GWN came together because of concern of the lack of activities and services in our rural area. Our group want to make a
change by providing second chance learning and opportunities to develop new skills and confidence. Although all our committee members are women, any of the courses we have run have been open to all genders within our community to attend. We would like to create a more cohesive community who can work together and achieve results.
