Public benefits
The trustees believe that our purposes satisfy both elements of the public benefit requirement. Purpose To advance education and arts for the benefit by the promotion in Northern Ireland but not exclusively of the art of dance particularly of ballet and contemporary dance. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include further education
in the advancement in performance of the art of ballet and contemporary dance for all children and young people in Northern Ireland regardless of social and economic status, who meet the minimum dance criteria. The benefits are evidenced through feedback from audience members, dance critics and vocational dance colleges via regular evaluations of productions. In providing advanced training for dancers there is a risk of unintended injury occurring, however this is rare with correct training and the benefit outweighs the harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are children and young people living in Northern Ireland who have shown ability in ballet and contemporary dance as a possible career path without the need to travel overseas. A private benefit to trustees may arise from our programme of ongoing skills training which are transferrable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.
What your organisation does
Our organisation invites dancers from across Northern Ireland, aged 10-25yrs, who have a passion and ability for ballet and contemporary ballet, to learn classical repertoire in order to perform in front of audiences across Northern Ireland in a theatre setting, free of charge. Members of the company will work together in rehearsals, gaining them
experience in performance based activities within the dance setting. The dancers will work hard 2-5hrs 3 Sundays every month, and on the lead up to performance up to 5 days a week during school holidays, in order to be of the highest standard before taking to the stage to bring ballet to the people of Northern Ireland. We hope to educate young dancers by learning new and exsisting repertoire from historic ballets and teaching them the history of these pieces. Young people from different backgrounds will meet and work together through their common interest, dance.
