Cairde Uí Fhiaich promotes access to and appreciation of arts, culture, heritage and education through the Cardinal Tomás Ó Fiaich Memorial Library & Archive (otherwise the Library & Archive) by supporting the Library & Archive financially and in voluntary action. This is done for the benefit of any member of the public who wishes to engage with

the arts, culture and heritage held by the Library & Archive and to promote education in these areas through employment of the Library & Archive's collections and activities. Cairde Uí Fhiaich, The Friends of the Cardinal Tomás Ó Fiaich Memorial Library & Archive exists to advance the public's interest in Culture and Heritage through the work of the Library & Archive by raising funds in support of its work to collect, catalogue, conserve, preserve and make accessible items of cultural and heritage value relating to Irish church history, national and local history, sport, language and the Irish Diaspora. The public benefit of the Library & Archive is that it provides a free and open access to its collections for the enjoyment and education of the public through exhibitions, publications and classes and preserves important aspects of local and national history and heritage for future generations. The benefits that flow from support for the Cardinal Tomás Ó Fiaich Memorial Library & Archive are that the public get to freely enjoy their history and heritage, have their education advanced through interaction with historical documents, books, artefacts and exhibitions and have value added to their cultural experience. The support of the Cairde Uí Fhiaich ensures that the collections are cared for to the highest standard and remain accessible for anyone to enjoy. There is no private benefit or harm from the organisation's purpose.

What your organisation does

Provide, maintain and equip or assist in the same of premises and facilities designed to carry out the objects of the Cardinal Tomás Ó Fiaich Memorial Library & Archive; Organise meetings, lectures, classes and exhibitions, and publish reports, periodicals, recordings, books or other documents or information; Obtain, collect and receive money by

way of grants, donations, bequests, legacies or other lawful method PROVIDED that the society shall not undertake any substantial permanent trading activities and shall conform to any relevant requirements of the law; Purchase, lease, hire or otherwise acquire any real or personal property and any rights and privileges necessary for the promotion of the above objects and construct, maintain and alter any buildings or erections necessary for the promotion of its objects and make any regulations for the same; Sell, let, mortgage, dispose of or turn to account all or any of the property or assets of the society with a view to the furtherance of its objects; Receive money on deposit or loan and borrow or raise money in such a manner as the society shall think fit and to charge all or any part of the property of the society with repayment of money so borrowed; Invest the moneys of the society not immediately required for the furtherance of the said objects in or upon such investments, securities or property as may be thought fit, subject nevertheless to such conditions (if any) as may for the time being be imposed or required by law; Recruit and train volunteers with relevant skills to carry out the objects of the society; Employ and pay any person or persons NOT being a member of committee to supervise, organise and carry on the work of the society and make all reasonable and necessary provision for the payment of remuneration to employees; Promote and organise co-operation and work in association with local authorities and voluntary organisations engaged in the furtherance of the above objects in the area of benefit.

Cairde Uí Fhiaich is established to advance the cultural life of the public by the promotion, support, assistance and improvement of The Cardinal Tomás Ó Fiaich Memorial Library & Archive without distinction of age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, political or religious opinion by associating with community and voluntary organisations and statutory bodies and to help and support The Cardinal Tomás Ó Fiaich Memorial Library & Archive by the purchase or gifts of documents, books & artefacts or by any other appropriate means.
