Public benefits

Purposes 1. To provide a suitable memorial to be known as "The Limavady and District War Memorial" for the purposes of perpetuating the memory of those persons from the Urban and Rural Districts of Limavady who gave their lives for their country in the Great War and commemorating the action of those who volunteered for active service therein. 2.

To apply the fund for the benefit of the inhabitants of the town and district of Limavady by providing for their recreation, instruction and mental and physical improvement and development as might be thought best. The Trustees believe that both our purposes satisfy both elements of the public benefit requirement. Purpose one - The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the perpetuation of the memory of and commemoration of the action of those people from the town and district of Limavady who served in the Great War. These benefits are demonstrated through the availability to the public of access to the War Memorial and the Memorial Garden in Limavady. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are the relatives of people from the town and district of Limavady who served in the Great War. A private benefit to the trustees may arise to trustees who are themselves relatives of people who served in the Great War. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. Purpose two - The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the mental and physical improvement and development of the inhabitants of the town and district of Limavady. These benefits are demonstrated through acknowledgements from organisations who have received grant funding. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are the inhabitants of the town and district of Limavady who belong to or benefit from organisations who receive grant funding. A private benefit to trustees may arise to trustees who are themselves members of such organisations. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.
