Public benefits

Purpose: To promote and advance in Northern Ireland the education and training of persons employed or intending to be employed in industry and commerce. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include increased education, skills and training opportunities for persons employed or intending to be employed in industry and commerce, and the

provision of learning to those persons. The benefits are evidenced through feedback from the recipients of education and training, and also the feedback of employers in industry and commerce. There is also regular independent evaluation of our services by Departments in the Northern Ireland Executive, including audit and inspection from the Department for Employment and Learning, Quality and Performance branch and the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI). All qualifications delivered and awarded are subject to audit and inspection by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulations (Ofqual). This purpose does not give rise to any harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are people living in Northern Ireland who are employed or are intending to be employed in industry and commerce, specifically the science, engineering and manufacturing sectors. A private benefit to trustees and to employees of the charity may arise from our programme of ongoing training in skills development. The trustees and employees gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings, although in many cases these will also be in the areas of industry and commerce. A private benefit to employers in industry and commerce may arise from the training of employees and of those intending to gain employment in those areas. A private benefit to third level educational colleges may arise from the enrolment of employees and those intending to be employed in industry and commerce at their establishments and the fees income earned as a result. In all these cases, the benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. Purpose: Subject to the foregoing object, to extend such education and training to members of the public in Northern Ireland generally. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include increased education, skills and training opportunities for members of the public in Northern Ireland, and the provision of learning to members of the public. There is regular independent evaluation of our services by Departments in the Northern Ireland Executive, and also of the number of persons engaged in employment and training in the areas of industry and commerce. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are members of the general public in Northern Ireland. A private benefit to third level educational colleges may arise from the enrolment of members of the public at their establishments and the fees income earned as a result. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.
