Public benefits
Roe Valley Football Club are based in Limavady and the charities aim is to promote community participation in healthy recreation in particular by the provision of facilities for the playing of Football. Roe Valley FC meets the public benefit requirement as follows: - The advancement of community development: Through sustaining weekly service
provision for men, woman and children using football as a means to engage. Being pro-active and running a number of community programmes which will engage the community providing a shared space for development of community skills. Creating opportunities to community members to become involved in volunteering and providing pathways into employment or education through training courses. To also give each volunteer’s a sense of well-being when volunteering and helping out within the community. The advancement of amateur sport: Through introducing community members into teams at senior and junior level for men and woman we will increase their skills and fitness and ultimately advance amateur Sport. Offering relief to public in terms of physical education, sports programmes and community engagement projects to youth, adults (both male and female), community members with disabilities and community members from throughout Limavady. Through good practice in all activities and interactions, we promote racial and religious equality in a diverse environment. There is no harm arising from our purposes mentioned above. The charity’s beneficiaries are the general public in Limavady. There is no private benefit flowing from our purpose.
What your organisation does
The club currently consists of around 200 members; this figure is made up by: - Mini soccer centre which consists of one nights training per week and matches take place on a Saturday morning and competes in the Coleraine Saturday mini soccer league at Ballysally (130 members ages between 4-13) - 2 seniors teams who are registered in the
Coleraine Saturday Morning league (30 members) - 1 ladies team which consists of 18 members aged between 14-35. The Club hires facilities at the Community 3G facility in Scroggy Road, Limavady to hold the majority of training sessions for members. All training sessions and matches are open to the public of Limavady and the Club is trying to expand in order to attract new members. The Club also hold an annual community event at Killane Road in partnership with Roe Valley Recreation Club. This event has helped to strengthen our image in the community.
