Public benefits

The public benefit flowing from the purpose is that individuals in Coagh and its surrounding districts can gain a greater knowledge and education about a variety of topics relating to the history of their own district or beyond. They will also benefit from learning about famous local people and from talks relating to modern history. These talks

provide debate and discussion about the past, present and future of Northern Ireland and help people to come together to reminisce and thereby examine each others attitudes in a non-threatening environment. The benefits therefore flow to the individuals attending the talks and by extension to their families and friends. The benefits will be measured by the numbers of people attending the talks. Feedback sheets will be issued to all beneficiaries in order to gauge the benefits they felt they derived from each session. The group will also hold occasional member only nights where we will discuss the programme of activities and assess the benefits derived. The is also benefit from the purpose that members of the group come together for occasional visits to places of historic interest, these visits encourage people to move outside their own immediate surroundings and visit sites which are of importance to the history of Northern Ireland. The visits permit people to socialise, form new friendships and in doing so promote the advancement of arts, culture, heritage, education, religious harmony and aid a better understanding of their own lives and the lives of others. The benefits will be measured by the numbers participating on the visits. Evaluation sheets will be made available to all beneficiaries in an attempt to gauge the benefits that they have achieved as a result of the visits. Participants will also be asked to make suggestions about other places of interest they would like to visit and why. The group will also try to assess the numbers of individuals from different religions / political persuasions and how the visits have helped them to socialise together and discuss issues which both bring them together and also those which separate them. There is no private benefit flowing from the purpose other than payments to bus companies for trips. These are ancillary to the work of the organisation. There is no harm flowing from the purpose
