Public benefits

The public benefits which flow from our purposes include the increased educational knowledge of the history, folklore and traditions of the district and beyond. This is apparent from our monthly meetings, when experts in various subjects give lectures, and field trips are organised for members of the Society and the wider community. The production

of a book every 4 years includes many articles about local people and places which are of interest to the community. This ensures that the history of this area is passed from one generation to another. Members are encouraged to contribute their ideas regarding topics for lectures and field trips and to deliver feed back. There is no harm or private benefit flowing from the purposes.

What your organisation does

The Society organises talks by well known speakers on the second Thursday of each month from September to April to which all interested persons are invited. Details of these talks and other Society activities are on notices in Saintfield Public Library, local shops, local press and on the website www.discoversaintfield.com.
