Public benefits

The direct benefits which flow from our purpose include improved health, wellbeing and social interaction for children and young people with a learning disability and their siblings and increased support for their parents and carers. This is evidenced through regular attendance, participation in activities, families recommending us to other

families, photos and videos taken during activities, unsolicited donations from families and parents putting themselves forward as committee members. The purposes of our charity may lead to a small risk of children or volunteers being injured during activities or due to challenging behaviour. This is managed through dynamic risk assessment and working closely with families to identify solutions. We can show that this harm is far outweighed by the benefits through continued attendance and support from the families. The charity's beneficiaries are children and young people with a learning disability and their siblings (aged 6-18) and their parents and carers. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose are to trustees who are parents and therefore benefit from the purpose of the charity and volunteers, including trustees, who gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. This is incidental and necessary to the running of the club.
