Public benefits

Purpose 1: Improved relationships between home and school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. This purpose does not lead

to harm. The benefit is for children at St Brigid’s Primary School Cloughmills. Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Purpose 2: Advancing the education of pupils in the school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding. This purpose does not lead to harm.

What your organisation does

As an organisation, our committee recently met and adopted the new and revised PTA-UK constitution. We raise monies through various fundraising events - e.g. quiz nights, sponsored walks, craft fairs, pamper evenings, etc.. All monies that we raise are spent to ensure that we as a group are helping to further and help the education of every

child within our primary school, be it purchasing play equipment or help setting an after schools club. An example of this would be, back in 2010 we as a committee noticed that our library was very run down and the book stock was very dated, after speaking with the head master and hearing his concerns about lack of reading within our school we decided to invest in new books, refurbish the library, e.g. new carpet and bright paint, and after some research and the headmasters backing we invested in a 5 year program called Accelerated Reading (A.R),.The benefits and positives this has had among all the school children has been overwhelming. We as a group are very strong, and very active both within our primary school and also our local community. We help as many function throughout the school year, e.g. first communion, class assemblies etc. We are registered with HRMC and 100% of monies raised is spent on all the children within our school.
