Public benefits

1. To meet with individuals with Learning Disabilities and provide them with appropriate educational courses, support specific training and advice. This is of direct benefit to the individuals themselves helping them to cope with their disabilities by reducing their isolation and by enabling them to better participate in family and community life.

This has a knock on effect with the wider family circle. The evidence for this is regular ongoing evaluations with the individuals and families. There is no harm flowing from public benefit. 2. There is a benefit to both individuals and community when adults with learning disabilities or mental ill health are further integrated into mainstream community life. It provides these adults with a new sense of security, helps to prevent depression and despair and tries to ensure that they can partake in “normal” community life and activities. No harm 3. By promoting volunteering for individuals in their own local community both the individual and local community benefit. The individuals benefit by their role in the organisation while the organisation benefits from the voluntary work performed by the individual. This enables many small community groups to continue with their work. There is no private benefit flowing from our purposes.

What your organisation does

Involve was set up: - To offer individuals the chance to learn new skills and participate in activities. - To integrate adults with learning disabilities into the community through organised activities with the support of volunteers. - to provide support, information, training and advice which enhance the effectiveness of volunteers to promote

charitable activities. - Organise training relevant to the needs of volunteers, such as first aid, health and safety, etc. - Organise life skills training for adults with learning disabilities tailored to their interests and needs. It would be hoped that this training will help them become involved in volunteering and even employment. We have been supporting adults with learning disabilities through our work and believe this is a valuable piece of work to our local community. - To promote volunteering for people in their local community and improve basic skill levels and open doors for people with learning disabilities and improve quality of life. Particularly in a time where there is social and economic deprivation the need for such assistance is highest. Most importantly it will develop self-esteem, interpersonal skills and confidence combined with life skills and core skills to improve quality of life
