Public benefits

The direct benefit from the lead in purpose is increased spiritual wellbeing for the youth of the area leading to a more morally informed community. The direct benefits which flow from purpose (i) include providing young people with information, skills and tools that they can use to improve their lives. The direct benefits which flow from purpose

(ii) include More parents are aware of the benefits of pre-school education for their children and more young people from the Area of Benefit will begin education earlier in their lives leading to a better educated community. The direct benefits which flow from purpose (iii) include Young people from the Area of Benefit will be able to benefit from a range of informal education opportunities and recreational facilities within a safe and youth friendly centre during out of school hours leading to a more healthy and informed community. These benefits are evidenced through monitoring and evaluating all programmes and activities that young people are involved in, in the centre. There is no harm that could come from any of our purposes. The beneficiaries are the youth and whole community of the Clonard area. There is no private benefit flowing from our purposes.

What your organisation does

The centre operates a full time board registered voluntary youth centre, 6 nights a week for young people aged 8-25 and offers young people the opportunity to engage in a range of activities and programmes designed in accordance with the NI Youth Work curriculum, which are aimed at the personal social development of our users.

Charitable purposes

the objects of the charity is to promote the benefit of children and young people in the Clonard area of Belfast (hereinafter called"the area of benefit") and to educate and assist such young people through their leisure-time activities so as to develop their spiritual, physical and mental emotional capacities so that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society and so that their conditions of life may be improved, and in particular: (i) to promote capacity building among young people from the area of benefit who are disadvantaged as a result of their social or economic circumstances in an effort to encourage them to develop confidence and self esteem and leadership skills; (ii) to raise awareness among parents of the needs of children and the value of pre-school education; (iii) to provide educational and recreational facilities out of school hours in the interest of social welfare.
