community activity The direct benefits which flow from Purpose 2 are: • Grant-aid funding to provide financial assistance which enables a new voluntary enterprise to create employment opportunities or training opportunities using the purpose built facility. • The direct benefits which flow from Purpose 3 include: • The publishing of a feasibility study which recognised a viable project for the provision of a youth facility called the Cleenish Centre. • The awarding of major capital funding from the Department for Social Development and the International Fund for Ireland. • The construction of a purpose-built facility providing paid employment. • The encouragement of a group of volunteers to form a business enterprise for the operation of and management of the youth centre and conference centre. • The provision of finances by means of grant-aid funding to assist a company enterprise to establish a new business. The direct benefits which flow from Purpose 4 include: • Identifying persons from the Area who possess skills and knowledge to form a limited company by guarantee, known as Bellanaleck Partnership Ltd. Skills and knowledge include decision making, strategic management, networking opportunities and knowledge of applications for capital grant aid funding. • Identifying persons from the Area to manage and operate an enterprise in a purpose-built facility, that is, the Cleenish Centre. Skills and Knowledge include financial management, administration, governance, decision-making, recruitment of personnel, Information Technology, etc. The direct benefits which flow from Purpose 5 include: • The production of a feasibility study which examined the feasibility of a project for the construction of a purpose built residential facility which has a vision statement “To provide a neutral and non-threatening environment which individuals and groups can use to confront issues and search for spiritual renewal”. • Assistance both financial and non-financial given to Cleenish Renewal Co Ltd for the setting up of the administration and operation of a residential and conference centre. The financial assistance being the awarding of grant-aid funding from the Department for Social Development and the International Fund for Ireland. • The creation of full-time and part-time employment opportunities, ie a Centre Manager, a Chef and a Domestic Assistant. These benefits are being evidenced through: • The publishing of an Economic Appraisal and Business Plan which accompanied applications for capital funding for a Community Regeneration and Improvement Special Programme (CRISP) for the Bellanaleck area. • The creation of a company limited by guarantee of a group of volunteers which has sought and been successful in applications for grant-aid funding. This company is called Bellanaleck Partnership Ltd. • The community of Bellanaleck being encouraged and having satisfaction in the success of major grant-aid funding applications from the Department of Social Development and the International Fund for Ireland coming to the town of Bellanaleck and its hinterland. • There is no evidence of harm The beneficiaries are: • The inhabitants of Bellanaleck and its hinterland. • The people who are employed either as voluntary or paid employment • The users who avail of the purpose built facility by participating in programmes of training for personal development in a non-threatening neutral venue where young people can meet and develop. There are no private benefits following from this purpose.
