Public benefits
The benefits which flow from this purpose include improved public awareness of the causes of Home Accidents and increased sense of responsibility towards the safety of the family in general. This awareness helps to reduce the numbers of Home Accidents. Further anecdotal evidence of these benefits can be found in Altnagelvin Hospital’s ‘Admissions
as a result of a home accident’ records which are made available to us and show a decline in such admissions in recent years. There is no harm flowing from this purpose and no private benefit. The benefit is evidenced through feedback from seminars and competitions. The beneficiaries are the General Public and in particular Children and older people.
