Public benefits
The first purpose of this organisation is to advance the arts, culture and heritage through innovation in cross-disciplinary practice. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the provision of art exhibitions, new art commissions and event programmes. People attending these public events gain: - access to contemporary culture and
new work free of charge - visual culture that is relevant locally, often using local historical or heritage resources to re-invent or re-present traditional knowledge, providing a different way of viewing and experiencing familiar histories, through images, texts, sound and live performances. - opportunities and a platform for involvement by the general public in these art projects through an open call process - specialist training, skills development, career development and professional confidence through participating in high quality events and gaining experience. - a sense of ownership and pride in the finished exhibition and/or production (both contributors and audience) - by working with and across disciplines we are able to cross educate and expand participants experience of other specialist fields - we are able to broaden and develop our programme to engage with a wider audience, also broadening their interests - we are able to develop new networks for participants and new audiences for the various art forms involved - we are able to remain relevant to current issues and trends locally through the lens of contemporary culture The charity’s beneficiaries are the general public, particularly based in Belfast. The second purpose of this organisation is to advance public education, appreciation and knowledge of the arts and culture. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include providing educational programmes including: - educational programmes that cover specifically photography, media and events production - training and skills development in the areas of multi-media, events co-ordinating and customer service - internships and volunteers opportunities where possible - focused career development mentoring and support - opportunity for networking and introductions to professionals in the field The charity’s beneficiaries are the general public, particularly based in Belfast. The third purpose of this organisation is to advance the training of students and early career artists in curatorial practice. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include providing training and education programmes. Individual beneficiaries gain: - organisational skills, working in a busy environment - ability to adapt to quickly changing circumstances - good communication skills and customer/client service - an aesthetic sensibility in terms of artwork styles and layout - understanding of various styles and their historical references - event management and co-ordination skills - admin and financial experience, monitoring of project budgets - understanding of policy docs and procedures needed in order to deliver an exhibition or production - understanding of what is required by event partners and internally, who is responsible for which aspects - ability to liaise directly with artists, facilitators, media and other partners - experience in writing copy for marketing purposes - all round experience of exhibition and event production - introductions and networking opportunities with professional peers The charity’s beneficiaries are students and early career artists. These benefits are demonstrated through innovation and excellence in the field of multi-disciplinary arts practice. The purposes of our charity do not lead to any harm. The only private benefit flowing from the purposes is when directors Rachel Brown & Brighdin Farren receive facilitator fees and this is incidental and necessary because the services they provide are unique in the sector and the charity activities would not happen otherwise.
