Challenge for Youth meets the public benefit requirement by providing the following benefits: - In the Advancement of Education Challenge for Youth provides services that: - increase knowledge, skills and attitudes, - enhance employability through gaining qualifications & training, - tackle the barriers to positive engagement. In the Advancement

of Citizenship or Community development and the Advancement of Human rights, equality and diversity, Challenge for Youth supports young people to: - build resilient supportive relationships, - reduce offending & anti-social behaviour, - raise awareness and understanding of cultural differences, - get involved in active citizenship & volunteering, The relief of those in need by reason of youth, health or other disadvantage Challenge for Youth provide opportunities which: - increase self esteem & confidence, - reduce dependency on drugs/solvents/alcohol, - improve mental and physical health - access to outdoor adventure sport and recreational activities. Empowerment and employability outcomes of the organisation contribute to the relief of poverty and the reduction of negative impacts which are associated with it. The benefits are demonstrated in our annual report and through feedback from participants through the use of our Now & Then evaluation tool. We also use external evaluations as an independent verification of our impacts. The beneficiaries of Challenge for Youth are primarily young people aged 12 – 25 who have experienced disadvantage in their lives. The impact of this work including personal development, education and employability creates a secondary benefit to the families and communities of the young people who participate. There are private benefits to staff in the form of salaries, however, these are necessary in order to ensure the running of the organisation so that it can fulfil its purposes. There is no harm flowing from the purposes.

What your organisation does

Challenge for Youth provides personal development opportunities for the most vulnerable and at risk young people in our communities. Using a Youth Work based Informal Education approach alongside Adventure Learning techniques we build relationships that support & challenge each young person to achieve and grow. We work closely with families and

carers to assist young people to become active members and contributors within the community.

Charitable purposes

To alleviate hardship and for the advancement of the education of and care for young people and in particular those who are disadvantaged, those who are at risk of becoming offenders and those who may be in physical and emotional danger by the provision of facilities for recreation and other leisure time occupation, challenging adventurous experiences and other activities for such young people in the interest of their social welfare.
