Public benefits
The direct benefits which flow from the purpose include improved health outcomes, enhanced levels of well-being (both physical and mental) and improved levels of physical activity through the provision of boxing and fitness related initiatives at our gymnasium. A further direct benefit is that it will improve their physical fitness, improve their
mental and physical well-being as we bring people from across our area of benefit together and help to improve community relations and enhance community cohesion. Benefits of the above can be demonstrated through a range of qualitative and quantitative methods of evaluation including pre and post-project/activity surveys/questionnaires, informal focus groups and discussion groups, interviews with beneficiaries and their parents/guardians etc.. We will also provide visual representations of the benefits through videos and photographs posted on our social media pages and produced in local newspaper articles. There is no perceived harm flowing from these purposes. The beneficiaries of our charity are those living in the Lisburn City area and those living in the surrounding villages and hamlets, as well as areas of West Belfast, where we attract a number of participants. There is no private benefit

Canal Boxing Academy was established to provide those living in the Lisburn City and surrounding areas with an accessible and welcoming venue to avail of boxing provision. Our boxing opportunities primarily focus on two target groups, firstly we work with those looking to box competitively and secondly we incorporate boxing activities and taster
sessions into fitness and health and well-being initiatives that focus on improving the quality of life among all our participants. Our club is open to everyone and we pride ourselves on being accessible and inclusive to all. There are no restrictions on our membership and we attract members and participants from across the Lisburn City area and towards West Belfast and in the surrounding villages and hamlets around Lisburn itself. Our club is also proud of its role in the local community and we have used boxing as a hook to promote greater levels of community cohesion and pride. In the past we have worked with other sporting organisations and community groups to deliver joint events geared towards promoting healthier and happier lives. We also deliver classes and programmes that tackle local issues including alcohol abuse and tackling anti-social behaviour and boxing is used as a hook to encourage participation and inspire participants to commit to living healthier and happier lives.
