Public benefits
1. To promote interest in Flute and Drumming musical traditions within Kilrea and surrounding areas. The direct benefits which flow from purpose 1 include increased understanding and awareness of the musical tradition of the area, especially flute and drum. Benefits will be demonstrated by increased enjoyment of our music and will be reflected in
feed-back received from our members and the general public who attend our events. 2. To preserve the existing repertoire of Flute & Drumming music and develop the genre through the production of new work and encourage its continued enjoyment and acceptance within the whole population of Northern Ireland. The direct benefits which flow from purpose 2 include increased understanding and awareness of the musical tradition within the public and a continued development of the musical genre. 3. To encourage persons of all ages and sexes to develop their instrumental skills and talents and provide tuition in the instruments and in the relation skills and competencies. The direct benefits which flow from purpose 3 include increased musical skills within the community. Beneficiaries for the above purposes are the general public, especially people living in the Kilrea area, who will continue to enjoy the music we bring to the community and the tuition we provide. These benefits will be demonstrated through feed-back received from our members, learners and the general public who attend our events. Private benefit may arise from training our members receive but this is incidental and necessary to allow us to deliver our services to the community. No identifiable harm flows from any of these purposes.
... [more] [less]What your organisation does
We are a marching Flute band based in Boveedy, just outside Kilrea. Our membership is made up of men, women, boys and girls and the band is run by an experienced committee. We provide tuition in Flute and Drum in addition to providing musical services for other local organisations. We also give people an opportunity to learn about Ulster Scots and
marching band culture and history in a welcoming and safe environment. We take part in concerts and community events throughout the year in addition to attending other band parades. There is a culture of continuous development within the band and we encourage everyone to continue personal development through social, educational and recreational opportunities we provide.
