Providing opportunities for increased active citizenship for people who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender. Providing opportunities for volunteering and promote the benefits of

volunteering. Increasing awareness of issues that impact on the LGBT community and create the opportunity to challenge behaviours which have a negative and detrimental impact to the lives of people who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender. Providing opportunities that challenge sexual orientation as a barrier in life. Providing environments were people who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender can feel comfortable with who they are and be accepted for who they are. POTENTIAL HARM: Increase of Homophobia WHO WILL BENEFIT: People who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender + General Public 2. ADVANCE HUMAN RIGHTS AND PROMOTE EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY We will do this by: Providing opportunities that promote inclusion of all regardless of sexual orientation. Providing opportunities that bring together people who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and people who are ‘straight’ to celebrate equality and diversity as fundamental cores for any healthy, productive and functional society. Increasing awareness of issues that impact on the LGBT community and create the opportunity to challenge behaviours which have a negative and detrimental impact to the lives of people who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender. POTENTIAL HARM: Increase of Homophobia WHO WILL BENEFIT: People who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender + General Public 3. THE PREVENTION OR RELIEF OF POVERTY We will do this by: Increasing the access to services and organisations that assist people living in poverty and experiencing deprivation for people who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender. Providing the opportunity to raise awareness, educate and inform people who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender of the causes of poverty and deprivation. Providing access to training opportunities for people who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender to increase the capacity of the LGBT community as a productive community within society. POTENTIAL HARM: No harm identified WHO WILL BENEFIT: People who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender + General Public 4. THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION We will do this by: Providing opportunities that promote inclusion of all regardless of sexual orientation. Providing opportunities that bring together people who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and people who are ‘Straight’ to learn and be educated. Creating opportunities for learning that bring people together and challenges segregation between the LGBT community and the ‘Straight’ community. Providing opportunities for training to people who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender and increasing the capacity of the LGBT community. Increasing access for people who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender to services and organisations that offer training and education. Increasing awareness of issues that impact on the LGBT community and create the opportunity to challenge behaviours which have a negative and detrimental impact to the lives of people who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender. Increasing the awareness of Homophobic bullying in schools and youth clubs and other organisations or services that deliver education and training, and informing on the impact of homophobic bullying on educational achievement within the LGBT community. Increasing the opportunity for people who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender to learn along side people who are ‘straight’ and to feel safe whilst doing so. What your organisation does

LGBT Northern Ireland identifies and addresses issues and barriers that effect people who are lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender and their families. Our organisation assists and supports LGBT citizens and their families to play fuller roles in community life and become more active as citizens within their community. We engage with members of

the LGBT community in ways that empower them and result in positive changes to their lives. We work with organisations and communities to increase awareness of what is it to be gay-friendly. We increase skills and build capacity within the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender community. LGBT Northern Ireland promotes an ethos of peer support and encourages experience based learning. We increase awareness of Homophobia and the difficulties that people who are lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender and their families experience. We promote acceptance and inclusivity as essential building blocks of society. We work with other organisations and communities to increase awareness of and to challenge stereotypes. We increase the visibility of the LGBT community within Northern Ireland. LGBT Northern Ireland connects people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and their families.
