Public benefits

The direct benefits are counteracting the school’s budgetary constraints affecting the provision of educational resources, extra-curricular activities, shared education activities and any other resources/services available to the pupils as well as enhancing and improving the school environment, preventing dilapidation and decline thereof.

Enabling/facilitating the provision of a rural community hub at the school that addresses rural social isolation and counteracts deprivation regarding access to services in the ward. These benefits are demonstrated by provision of resources, services and facilities at the school that would not otherwise be possible without the funds raised by and activities of the PA. Pupils of all abilities becoming well-rounded individuals in various aspects of school life. High demand for use of community hub and high attendance within the community groups that use it. There is no harm arising from the purposes. The primary beneficiaries are the pupils, staff and families of children at the school who benefit from the educational resources, extra-curricular activities and other resources/services provided by the PA’s funds or activities. The wider community also benefits from the community hub facilitated by the PA including those who use for example the Parent Toddler group, Fitness classes, Irish Language classes, Neighbourhood Watch. All benefit from the prevention of dilapidation and decline of the school environment. The families of the pupils attending the School may benefit from the funds raised and activities by the PA in that they have less direct contribution/subsiding of resources and activities at the school from their own household income. The private benefit is minimal and incidental particularly given the benefit the funds raised and the activities bring to the wider community of the school.
