Online registration with the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland will soon be available.
Our user-friendly system will provide you with online guidance throughout completion of the form. Once you have completed the first six screens, depending on your type of governing document, you will receive an application reference number. When you have received this number you can save the form at any time and come back to it another time if you wish. Below is an example showing where you will see your application reference number on the On Line Application.
When this process begins we recommend you should read the following guidance documents:
- read our guidance on registering a new charity - this will make sure you have all the necessary information before you start;
- read our guidance on applying to register on line - this will explain the system and give more detail on the information you will need to complete your application: and
- view a blank application form to help you complete your online application.
Before you apply to register a new charity, you must read our Public benefit guidance. This will explain how your application should demonstrate that your organisation's aims are providing public benefit.
Our Guidance on charitable purposes will set out which aims ('purposes') are considered to be charitable and why. Your organisation cannot have some aims which are charitable and some which are not.
Apply to register a charity (once registration has opened).
Once this is ready, you can complete and submit an online registration application.
