Integrated Equality Scheme and Action Plan 2012-2017
The Charity Commission for Northern Ireland is committed to promoting equality and diversity in all that we do.
Our integrated Equality Scheme and Action Plan 2012-2017 sets out how we will work to meet our duties and responsibilities under Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act (1998), Sections 49A and 49B of the Disability Discrimination Act (1995) and the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008.
It forms a core part of all our statutory work and will assist the Commission in actively promoting equality of opportunity and good relations.
In developing our Scheme, we undertook a public consultation on our draft Equality Scheme and Action Plan in the summer of 2012. We received a wide range of responses through our consultation, which fed into our updated scheme. Information on that consultation and a summary of responses can be found on our website here.
The revised Equality Scheme and Action Plan was then forwarded to the Equality Commission and was subsequently approved on 24 April 2013. Following this approval the agreed procedures will be implemented and reported on in our Annual Report.
