About the Charity Commission

The Charity Commission for Northern Ireland (CCNI) is the new independent regulator of charities in Northern Ireland.

We are responsible for ensuring Northern Ireland has a dynamic and well governed charities sector, in which the public can have confidence.

We will soon begin the process of registering all organisations that operate for Charitable purposes, and in time will begin the regulation of the entire sector.

Information about each organisation we register as a charity will be available on the online Register of Charities.

The Commission plays a crucial role in the development of charities, enabling them to meet modern expectations and obligations.

This section introduces the work we do, and explains how we do it.
